Founder’s Story

Hi, I am Kimleigh Smith and I have transformed from a gang rape victim into a powerful woman who embraces my inner superhero by  reclaiming my sexuality and living as a whole healthy woman who cheers for life.  My company Embrace Your Cape’s mission is to help you overcome your weapons of self-destruction and the inner dialogue that prevents your brilliance from shining brightly so you live powerfully. Embracing your cape is about coming out of hiding and setting your story free, fully embracing who and what you are, and never letting anything get in your way again. It’s about digging deep and channeling the superhero within so you can fly high and live the life of your dreams. This is truly an exciting, innovative, and nurturing approach to unmasking your story and taking ownership of your life. Own your story, own your life! It’s that simple!

Embrace Your Cape was born out of my journey from the shadows and into my power. My first sexual experience was at the age of 17, when I was gang raped as a college freshman. For 8 years, I repressed those horrific memories and continued to excel at everything I did. I was a college cheerleader, became Miss Emporia, graced the stage of the Miss Kansas Pageant and received my degree in Psychology. When I discovered a love for performing, I moved to Chicago to pursue dance and theatre. After a few years, I had an overwhelming desire to take on the film and television industry so I moved to Los Angeles.

I achieved great successes but never felt fulfilled and couldn’t figure out why….until the vivid nightmares emerged and called out my truth. That’s when my journey towards embracing my cape began.

“You must do the thing you think you cannot do.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

After years of denying and running away from my “story,” I finally faced it head on. I recognized that facing fears isn’t about the fear of dying. It’s about having the courage to really live, and live out loud. I knew that my story had to be told and my life lessons, learned the very hard way, had to be shared. That’s when my solo show, T-O-T-A-L-L-Y!, was born.

T-O-T-A-L-L-Y! MEANS WHOLLY: to a complete degree or to the full or entire extent of something. It means there’s no room for half-assing anything if you’re completely committed.

I believe that our greatest obstacles are also our greatest gifts. My rape was my greatest obstacle, but it also taught me to live T-O-T-A-L-L-Y! in my power. That experience shaped my life and gave me laser-focused clarity around my own superpowers. Until I learned to own my story, I couldn’t get passed it. Now I am blessed to share my experience with the world and guide others out of the shadows and into their power.

“You must be willing to sacrifice who you are for who you want to become.” – Kimleigh Smith

I found my voice by pushing through boundaries, healing painful memories, reclaiming my sexuality and taking back my power.  Digging deep enough to hear my inner voice redefined my life and my art. Through the process of creating T-O-T-A-L-L-Y!, I recognized an innate storytelling ability that I never knew I had. When I wrote and finally performed my show, I knew I had overcome my greatest fears and doubts. I put 150% of myself into T-O-T-A-L-L-Y! and in doing so, I took ownership of my life.

I am committed to living fully in my power so I can help you recognize yours. Through my programs I am determined to help you…
